GarLind Ridge Collies in Wisconsin
PuppyMill-Bella

There is NO EXCUSE for abuse!

BellaTear.jpg
Bella, a tear in her eye. She never should have been at the place she was rescued from.

This is Bella, born at Garlind Ridge, daughter of Abby Grace and Hero
She was sold to a breeder I trust, with a written contract she was not to go to another breeder
Out of pure greed by this breeder I thought I could trust, she was sold to a puppy mill
Bella was rescued by the Humane Society from the filty conditions this breeder
sent her to all for the love of money

Bella is the daughter of Abby Grace and Hero
She has been rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri

She was sold in May of 2008 to a breeder from Kentucky I thought I could trust. I have been very picky about selling breeding collies in the past and have sold very few. This breeder signed a bill of sale that she would contact me if ever she did not want to keep Bella. A contract is only as good as those who sign it. I found this out the hard way.

This breeder sent Bella and many other collies into these horrid puppy mill conditions where they have now been rescued. She enabled and supported this puppy mill. This Missouri kennel was having space problems as documented by an inspection a year before the rescue yet the Kentucky breeder sent more collie there contributing to these horrible conditions. The Kentucky breeder, being deceptive, kept Bella on her Website the entire time, as if she still owned her.

*
She stated on her site that Bella was gone but would be back and she had big plans for her even though she had sold her to the place she was rescued from in Missouri.

* When I confronted the Kentucky breeder, I was told Bella was at the Missouri kennel until their contract was completed. She said Bella was well cared for, well fed, well groomed, very loved, and that she received weekly photos of
Bella. This could not have been true with the conditions of the collies at the time of the rescue.

*I tried to purchase Bella back but was told she was not for sale. I learned from the VP of the Humane
Society in Missouri that the Kentucky breeder had SOLD Bella to the Missouri kennel.

*This Kentucky breeder is very proud of herself, achieving various AKC titles with her collies then posting their titles on her Website along with her show brags. She proclaims her love for her collies with stating she spends lots of time with them even taking walks in the parks. She proclaims the love for the collie breed yet when one hasn't given her the personal recognition she is looking for, she sells them with little regard to their well being or safety. Our agreement was that if at any time she did not want to keep Bella, she would contact me and we would agree on a wonderful pet home for her.

*This breeder has finally, months after Bella had been sold, removed her from her Web site. She tried to reclaim her from the Humane Society since she knew the truth would soon be known with the rescue. Bella was shown on several of the news videos looking filthy and depressed. Bella will now be spayed and move on to a home where she will be clean, well fed, and loved for being Bella, the wonderful collie that she is.

Although this breeder may have many excuses for what she did to Bella and the others, there is no excuse for abuse. Please do not judge breeders by this Missouri puppy mill or by this Kentucky breeder who supplied the puppy mill with breeding collies, enabling it's existance and the abuse of these gentle beings.

Crack down on puppy mill in Missouri!

According to the Humane Society, the dogs were living inside half of a double-wide trailer home on the property inside which were numerous wire crates with dogs and puppies living in their own waste. Carpeting in the trailer was soaked with urine and feces. The odor of ammonia overwhelmed officials when they first entered the premises. Several sick, lethargic and listless dogs and puppies were found. Rescuers believe little to no veterinary care had been provided to the animals.

I would like to give special thanks to the following wonderful Garlind Ridge family members of Missouri:

Kelly who has a Bella sister(Kelly has been amazing!) she alerted me of what was happening with kneedeepincollies, asking me if that is the place Bella was sent, knowing I was trying to get her out of a puppy mill situation for months.
Marilyn and her mother Joan who has Bella's cousin, Shadow
Karen who has 2 Garlind Ridge collies, one being a Bella's brother.

There is not excuse for abuse! Bella should never have been at this Missouri kennel if the breeder I sold her would have honored her signed contract.

This Web page will remain as a reminder to the Kentucky breeder of what she did to Bella and the others out of pure greed and to others to screen puppy families carefully, especially if offering breeding collies. She is very proud of the many titles for her collies with smiling and displaying many photos of herself with her collies. It is hard to understand how she can be so proud of what she has done to the innocent. There is NO EXCUSE for abuse!

I have learned though my collie health group that since this happened, this Missouri breeder has started up again....under another kennel name!!!
Where are the collies coming from to start breeding again???
Ask questions, LOTS OF QUESTIONS, check pedigrees!
